AGM Celebrates a Year of Momentum and Global Recognition

Social Value Aotearoa has welcomed members to its Annual General Meeting, reflecting on a year of milestones and a kaupapa that continues to gather momentum across Aotearoa and beyond.

The AGM acknowledged our growing membership, which now sits at more than 300 members, and welcomed Iri Mako and Hector Kaiwai to the Social Value Aotearoa Board, joining Awerangi Tamihere in supporting the next phase of the network’s development.

We also acknowledge and thank our outgoing Board members, Brad Norman and Jacqui Harema, for their contribution, commitment and service to Social Value Aotearoa.

The AGM also celebrated a significant international milestone, acknowledging John Tamihere’s appointment as Independent Board Chair of Social Value International, reflecting the growing connection between the work happening here in Aotearoa and the wider global social value movement.

Director Jo Nicholson says the growth reflects the strength of the people who make up the network.

“When we started, we were a handful of people with a shared belief that social value mattered. Today, I am just so proud to see the growth. What excites me most is the capability in this room. Our members are building the skills, evidence and confidence to embed outcomes-focused, mana-enhancing practice across Aotearoa.”

The AGM also reflected on Social Value Aotearoa’s beginnings. Established in 2014, the organisation has maintained a clear and enduring purpose: to champion better decisions for people and communities by ensuring social value sits at the heart of how organisations design, deliver and evaluate their impact.

As Aotearoa’s national member network of Social Value International, SVA is part of a global movement changing the way the world accounts for value.

As we enter our next chapter, we will continue to champion the idea that value is about more than money. It is about the real change experienced by people, whānau and communities and making sure that change counts in the decisions that shape our future.
